Samurai Shodown III: Useful (maybe)/ Beginner Techniques & Infinite Combos by Lorenzo lorenzo_zerg@hotmail.com This is for Bogey Jammer especially: well I guess building up a complete SYSTEM of FIGHTING INSTINCT is quite long a process, so mayhap some practical and easily-mastered techniques would be more of use, so here we go: * First of all, we must keep in mind the two most useful functions in SS3 as follows: *** I: getting behind your opponent: when you are very close (zero distance) to your enemy, using Dodge (A+B) would get you to the behind of your opponent, as I emphasized, this is MOST VITAL a technique in SS3.. * in case you were fighting with Hanzo, he usually would use d+C to cut you down no sooner than you got behind him, in which case you should hold Lower Block (d+b) WHILE your character was executing the Dodging process, then you could block his slash, then took advantage of his Stiffening Time to make him regret his recklessness... ^-^ * You can't use any combo from the behind on Zankuro.. (he's the boss, anyway) * You can fight a few characters even Zankuro himself like fighting Zangierf, it is a common anecdote now among us Chinese FTG players: "TRICKING ZANGIERF" as it is called... ^-^ * ("Tricking Zangierf" means using jump upward+attack repeatedly, in which case Zangierf would keep trying walk forward and keep getting punched/kicked.. In case you wonder) ** II: grabbing your opponent: when in zero distance to your opponent, use f+C or b+C to grab him/her and push/pull him/her to the front/back regardless of his/her guarding stance. This could be very useful but also quite dangerous (if missed) though.. Then we shall go through each character respectively, note that almost 60% of the characters in SS3 has one or more infinite combos: b: back; d: down; f: forward; A: light slash; B: medium slash; C: heavy slash Haoumaru: Bust: get behind the opponent (A+B when getting very close), then (near)B, df+D, fdf+D, (near)B, df+D, fdf+D, (near)B again..... an easy infinite combo! Genjuro: Slash/Bust: get behind the opponent, then (near)B, db+A/B, get close to the opponent (he has not recovered yet, this is VERY important), (near)B, db+A/B, (near)B.... infinite. Shizumaru: Slash, Upper Grade: get close to the foe, use d+B (2 hits), then link into the Supermove (fdbfdb+CD), the enemy would faint... then get close to him again.... infinite. Nakoruru: Slash: get behind your foe, use d+C (2 hits), then link df+B... 6 hits total! then the opponent would faint... infinite. Rimururu: Slash/Bust: get behind your foe, use B, bd+A, B, bd+A, B.... infinite! Galford: Bust, Upper Grade: get behind, use B, link Supermove (fdbf+C), when enemy tries to pick the weapon up, use B, Supermove again! If he doesn't try to pick it up, then use A or B repeatedly to consume his health... (wicked!) Ukyo: (a) Bust, Upper Grade: get behind, use B, link into Supermove (fbf+CD).... When the opponent loses his weapon... same as Galford.. (b) Bust: get behind, use B, fdf+B, B, fdf+B, d+C, the enemy faints, then repeat... another infinite combo! Gaira: Slash/Bust, Upper Grade: get behind, use B, Supermove (dfdf+AB).... then the same as Galford and Ukyo(a). Basara/Galford/Hanzo: Slash/Bust: get close to the enemy, use the "Headstrike" skill (the "unblockable grabbing move" or "throwing move".. I hope you can understand.... ).. the commands are: Basara(bdf+A), Gal Slash(fdf+C), Gal Bust(fdf+D) and Hanzo(fdf+CD) respectively.. then repeat.. * better use jump+attack (** don't attempt to slash your opponent with jumping attack though, just brandish your weapon gracefully in the mid air) to ensnare your foe (make him adopt guarding stance) when he/she gets up from the ground, then grab him/her again.... Amakusa/Kyoshiro: I dislike these two, especially the latter one, so I don't like using them.. But here is sth. for... Amakusa: get close, use d+D four times! The RHYTHM is VERY IMPORTANT, if the four hits succeeded, the opponent would faint, then use it again!! This technique needs more practice though..... Kyoshiro: Sorry, nothing practical/easy I can think of.. And that's all for now (everything from memory..), hope it does help... ^-^ Please DO feel free to criticize any mistakes or complement anything amiss (gramatical or technical) in my theory, THANK YOU everyone for reading my article!
